Tnanks.
It seem's like he's changing really fast now so i will just keep updating. Its really hard to catch him in focus. Anyone knows what lens and settings I should be using? New to the dslr thing.Using this thread to practice.
This is him a week ago.

This is him tonight. I'm very happy the red color stayed, I was nervous about the fading(never had a fish that fades). Can't get the whole shot in focus, but anyhow.

Its best that you have really strong/bright tank lighting.

Open the F-stop (aperature) as wide as you can go w/ your lens (low number) and set your shutter according to your previous shots.

here's an example of my big guy at at F-stop 3.5, shutter speed 1/250, iso 200.

Thanks for the info Midas. I will try the settings out tonight. Btw your shots always come out so clear, as in whole body. Mine seem to zoom in on a spot on the body.

Purchased a Parrot fish(not sure if its Bp or KK) in hopes of finding a female. They were seperated for a day and now seem to get along fine. I grabbed the biggest one from the bunch that had the best tail (I think my fader is lacking big tail).

The male has really faded fast now, I'm glad the red held and most of the black is gone. Anyone know the fertility on male faders, are they like male kamfas? Anyhow not really wanting to breed and all, just wanted another fish in there without dividers(Tiger Barbs vanished over night last week). The fish is slouching in the corner here.

Excuse the photos, camera noob here(midas still playing with those settings you advised ealier).
I wish there was a way to pause the fish for a better shot. Below is a picture of them clearing some gravel.
Thanks for viewing.

Yay. Woke up this morning and found that the nest the 2 made now has eggs in it. So excited. Do i leave them in there with the parents or do i seperate the parents from the nest or what. They layed the eggs on the gravel so I might have to wait to siphon them out. I am worried that they may eat them. Anyhow off to work. will post some pics when i get a chance.

congrats!

since the eggs are on the gravel, it will be hard to take the eggs out so i would leave them in and hope they are good parents. if you have another tank set up, you can take the parents out.... next time, use a flat clay surface so it will be easier to take the eggs out.

as for a clear body shot, I used a 50mm lens. Are you using a shorter lens; 25-35mm?? anyhow, play around w/ your settings and lighting. they are harder to photograph when they are young and full of energy ;)

nice development on the fader btw. he's changing rapidly
