You little girls need to get a life. It was a figure of speech and I told you I was kidding so get over it. I would never throw a gar or any fish in a toilet and if someone does it just because I said it then they are morons.

I have kept fish longer than I would say 99% of you and have kept pretty much every "rare predatory species" that you can think of, so dont' talk to me like I don't know what I'm doing. I have kept every species of gar except for the Cuban and yes they are alll very hardy species. Much hardier than any other fish that I have kept. So trust me the Cuban gar may be a little more sensitive but they are still more hardier than 99% of the fish out there. Why do you think they have been around since the beginnig of time?

And yes, I had a few gars jump out my tanks but I had the tank very secure but they still managed to break free as you should now they are very powerful, but I have never lost a gar because of it, in fact the only gar that I lost and I had to put it down was an alligator gar that was in my 750 gallon tank that broke his back.

I'm through trying to explain myself to a bunch of punk kids that think they know it all.

first off, you're right...we're a bunch of punk kids :)

see red highlighting for reasons why you should learn proper grammar and spelling before trying to spout off generalized crap as fact in the gar forum.

see green highlighting and look up the term outliers and then apply that to two of the people you are lecturing about gars.
also see green for another broad generalization that cannot possibly be true...99% of predatory species huh? you are aware that there are roughly 25,000 known fish species accounting for the majority of vertebrates in existence and you've kept 99% of the piscivores and invertivores? sounds like more generalized BS to me. i've kept my share of predatory fishes but would never make such a claim.

you want to see a fish that is generally hardier than a gar? if you have kept 99% of predatory species then you would realize an easy choice is an African lungfish (3/4 species...oh wait, you probably knew that) or even an SAL in most cases. gars are quite durable and tolerant, yes, but in most of your posting in this thread you really don't know what you're talking about.

it's nothing personal, and i don't mind being corrected if i am wrong, i just expect people to keep the BS to a minimum and not call people out with moronic statements. have a nice day :) --

if you haven't kept the fish in question then why on earth should we trust you? i personally don't have much experience with fish but have kept my fair share of cuban gars and can safely assure you that they are not just a little more sensitive. even a small(0.1) nitrite reading has caused my cubans to turn dark in stress.

and about gar hardiness, i have a hunch that between them and my senegal bichirs, the sen would survive worst conditions. true they're hardy as hell, but i'm pretty darn sure that there are numerous fish hardier than gars.

i think solomon and alex have said it well enough and i dont need to say anything.
and im pretty sure i can name you many species much much hardier than cubans or most gars for that matter.

I think they have all said enough to cover this subject
