I picked this GATF up a few days ago. He's all settled in and pounding pellets in my 40 breeder. I took a quick video tonight after I turned the lights on. I can't wait to see this guy turn into a monster

i love the setup! Very simple yet eye catching at the same time!

Thanks guys. I'm big on the tile bottom and minimal hardscape. The clean, Asian-inspired look does it for me.

As far as tankmates go, I've got some bass, a bunch of tiger barbs, some dats, and clipper barbs. The GATF isn't as aggressive as I thought so I'm going to go full steam with a predatory community.

Very, very nice! I like the combo. He's an itty bitty feller though. My Max was about that size when I first got him.

The little mahseer looking barb is the clipper barb?

Yeah he's a tiny little thing. He's eating good and loving all the flow in the tank, so I suspect he won't be small for too long! I've actually following your thread and it was a large reason I went with a GATF in the first place, so thanks for that! And yes, those little silver guys are the clipper barbs. Nice fish out of Africa. But the tiger seems to think they are punching bags. He pounds on them relentlessly so I don't think they'll be around too much longer. I'm going to give panda barbs a try next.

Looks good and love the tank! How did you get it to take pellets so fast?

It was honestly easy. I use the same technique for any fish: high flow and plenty of competition. He seems to like the sponge-like texture of Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks so that may be a good place to start.

That's been the key to my success though. The GATF needs targets that are expendable or he'll kill more expensive tankmates. It seems to really help having a lot of targets to spread the aggression around, too.

Once Max started eating pellets and put some size on him, he really calmed down. Instead of biting now, 95% of the time he just charges. He only very rarely bites anymore.

Sounds good. I just picked one up too and he's already mouthing and tasting pellets after watching the tinfoils.
