New goonch!

1 week update:
I set up all the rocks in the area the goonch hung out the most at night and do far, I've only seen it laying there once. Funnily enough, it decided to kick the aba aba out of its spot and claimed it for itself right in the corner of the tank underneath the giant airstone pad thing. The aba tried to take it back earlier today and the goonch just chased it all over the tank. It's incredible how fast they are. I've also never seen the aba move so fast in its life. Yesterday, it was against the tank wall looking up as if it wanted food so I threw some feeders in it and it ate 2 out of the 3. One if the scombs ate the 3rd. So far, I think it's very happy. I need another 1 now! Here's a couple of pics of it in its new hiding spot.

Dottie only sheds her skin if the water perimeters change too much at any given time. If yours is sloughing every time you do a water change, something is happening to the water that is too dramatic for the fish to easily handle. Figure out what it is and fix it. I can't be much of a help with the chemistry of what may be happening without knowing a LOT more about what's going on. :/

The only thing I can think of is maybe a change in temp when I do it. The tank never goes above 78 and the water from my hose is colder. I read that they don't like big wc's so I'll only change about 20% each time. Is there something else that I'm overlooking? It shouldn't be conductivity or anything cuz everything is coming from my hose and I use prime to get rid of all the bad stuff that might be in there.

I've mainly observed the sloughing when there's big changes in either hardness or PH. That might be your problem. Check it before and after your next water change; you might need buffer.
