Leaving the lights off for a few days might help get him eating, I doubt they have good eyes being so small it might be hard for him to catch em

They like to just sit and wait until the food is close enough. They don't really chase the food around but last night, the flow would just slam the feeders right into its face and it didn't care. Hopefully it'll start eating within the next few days

Are you leaving the lights off? Or at least give it a try? I do that for any new fish let alone a goonch that probably cost ya an arm haha. this guy in with your pays?

Goonch cats are sensitive to water perimeters. He'll likely take a few days to adjust to your hardness and PH. Any sudden changes to those two perimeters will cause them to go off their diet, and the stress of moving tanks didn't help either.

I'll keep the lights off for a few days then. The tank still gets pretty bright even without the lights on cuz of the ambient light around the house and yes, the goonch is with 3 scombs and an aba aba knife. Now that I have the goonch, I've been contemplating getting rid of the aba due to the aggressiveness of it as it gets bigger. Right now it's still pretty young.

That's good to know. I just wanted to make sure the average amount of time it takes for them to adjust so that I know when I should start worrying if it doesn't eat for a while. It's been less than 24 hours since I've had it so I'm not worried at all yet.

Edit: just curious how sensitive these guys are too salt. The scombs were pretty aggressive towards my aba aba and there's some gashes in it today. I was thinking to add some salt to help with the healing but I don't know how sensitive goonches are to it.

I added a half dose of aquarium salt every other water change that I did and I never noticed any ill effects on my rutilus.

It totally would be! It'll be even more insane once its big enough to go in my 150 with my bichirs and armatus! I'm hoping the aba will stay peacefull but so far, chances aren't looking too good. It pretty much leaves all the fish alone but whenever I do wc's, it attacks the hose and if there's leftover feeders, it just kills them for the hell of it.

Wow that's nuts, sounds like my red wolf though haha he attacks the hose, kills anything just over able to fit in his mouth and tries to eat some of it, usually just the stomach haha

That would be sick, an aba and an army cohabbed w/ bichirs on bottom. Hope it works out for ya!
