New goonch!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I hope it all works out for ya Ivan. Sometimes time is the only thing for these problems. :/

Good news guys! I just got home and it's still alive!!! It hasn't moved from its spot since I left but it's still alive!!!! I know I'm not in the clear yet. I gotta wait a few more days and watch it carefully but at least I know its chances of survival are higher now. As promised, here's a couple pics. Oh, also... There's quite a size difference between it and the HLG. It's not a HUGE size difference but it's definitely noticeable. Is this a big enough difference to be concerned? The HLG, not counting the tail fin is about 6-7" and the rutilis is about 4", also not counting the tail.

Outstanding! :D :D

Something that would help the little ruti and possibly the HLG out and keep them calm would be appropriate rock work like I mentioned earlier. It seems as though your HLG doesn't seem interested, but I'm certain the ruti will be all about it. Mine sure is. Mine is also a PITA to feed, hopefully yours is easier.

Haha ya. The HLG could care less about the rocks I put there. During the day it goes and hides behind the airstone but at night it goes right in front of the powerhead the ruti is under. I'm debating on outing the rocks back to that spot but I'm gonna hold off on it until the ruti is settled in. I don't wanna stress it out more. It's been through enough today. Do you think the size difference is something to worry about though?

The current size difference wouldn't worry me, the concern is how much faster the HLG is likely to grow.

That's true. I'm prepared though. Once the HLG has grown a little more, it'll go in my 150. It might be able to go in right now but if my large bichirs really wanted to, they could squeeze it down so I'm not willing to risk that yet

Just thought I'd post this fts since I haven't yet. You can barely see the ruti but its on the bottom far right corner right under the koralia behind the scomb and the HLG is where it always is during the day by the airstone. I think I'm gonna switch the koralia's around next week and put the one on the front left in the floor and the far right one at the top. That way I can try placing a bunch of rocks in front and hoping that one of the goonches will use it as its permanent spot.

Sounds like a good plan. :)

Hows the aba aba doing with his tankmates? I was under the impression that they were practically homicidal...

They usually are but this one is still small so its a big pansy. If you look at its face, it's been punked by the scombs like crazy. Also, where the HLG hangs out, that used to be the aba's spot. One day the aba tried to take it back and the goonch chased it all over the tank for about a minute straight. I'm gonna try and community it but if it doesn't work, I know someone who wants it.
