I do not see how anyone can grow a juvenile arowana out in a 20-gallon tank for any substantial period of time without stunting it.

actual alot of people grow out 2-3" fishes in a smaller tank. it helps smaller fishes settle in better than throwing them into a large tank. it also easier to feed since the small fishes doesnt have to search the whole tank for food and can see it right away. i use to grow out 1-2" fishes in a 10g and once it gets settle move it to a bigger tank.

How can a 2"-3" fish be stunt in a 24"x12" tank? It takes 4-6 months for the Leichardti to reach 8", which can be moved to a bigger tank, and a bigger tank, and a bigger tank.... :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead :shakehead

:) do you happen to know what the ideal temperature to keep my tank at? I told my friend i keep it at about 80 and he says its too low and that may be the reason my last one died. He told me to keep it at 86 but i think my geo's are comfy at 80.

Ive got a 4" Daemon great looking fish.

I would have got some cupido aswell. They are a beautiful species.

Thanks for sharing...

post a picture please, i dont see very many of them around on the forum. Curious to see some adults.

I picked up a lei 2 weeks ago and put him into the 125 and he was doing great but died just out of nowhere. He looked really small in that tank too So i am going to try to to see if i can add some weight before trying it again.

:iagree:80F is comfortable for arowanas. 82-84 if you want to power feed him, but he'll be very active, and will attack any tankmate. 86 is only when fish is sick, and need to be nursed back to healthy. You need a lot of aeration if you keep your tank temp 82 or above.
