The festae in the 1st pic looks to be a female to me.
The black and blue area in the anterior of the dorsal, and gently sloping facial profile are both female traits.
Female below

now a male

Personally not a fan of Pictus, they’re very expensive for a common catfish. At my LFS I can get them 10$ where I got my synodontis decorus for 15$ and with Pictus like you said school.

I’ve had him for a little while, probably like 3-4 months. I’m not home I can see if I have a pic though.

Lol well atleast I'm not the only one I know of that has a whip tail cat. Trying to find a male for mine tho, I'd like to try my hands at breeding em. This is my girl btw.

Got a scientific name? I rather like that whip tail but haven’t seen it before I believe.

Dasyloricaria filamentosa.
They tend to act like plecos and breed just like em other then the fact that instead of keeping the eggs in a cave the male carries them on his lips. The male gets this kind of mustached look to him with the lil barbels on his lip, the females however only have 2 barbels on opposite sides of her lip. They are one of the few species of lip brooding fish. Here's a couple pics showing the difference between the 2 genders. Oh also instead of being strictly algae grazers they do actually prefer a meaty diet.
