I've done the panda uaru thing... if they didn't pit up so bad, I'd still be working with them. Maybe I need to wait until a few more generations down the line...

I don't see Heroina mentioned in this thread anywhere. I'm going to keep saying the name until they pop up on a list someday. :D

I have been keep 4 of them almost 1 and half year, they are really cool fish, very slow growing.

rare because nobody wants to keep them so they did not move on in the hobby maybe? I personally pick my fishes to enjoy with my eyes and of course take and show pride in caring and raising them .. I don't need a rare but ugly fish in my tank for popularity.. Rare is good.. But ugly is not good. I dont think the Randeni is ugly ugly!! but I think it is ugly compared to Cubans and Haits..
There's a fish for everyone but Ransdeni not for me.
I would like to have a pair if lots of ppl want them though.. Not to be in with the crowd, but to breed and make money from the demand.. I'll keep ugly fishes if they bring in money.. No lie. But if I can get them, anyone can.
Just my 2 cents

Some of you guys here are like fh hobbyists.. Treat them like fashion. It's a shame..

Yes..... I understand animalguy. Just being rare doesn't do it for me anymore. I don't even find myself valuing my own so-called rare fish in any particular way. My rare holy grail is a well run system full of healthy fish. The good part is everyone can achieve that dream!

I seem to find myself steering away from the fad fish of the moment, just not my style.

I have to agree with you. I kept the Urau Fern. a few years back and although they were pretty fish, I just didn't find them to be that special. I bought my first Green Terror last weekend and although pretty common i just love the little guy lol.

I think I'm jumping on some Beani. Always loved this fish but could never keep them alive when they were around in the late 90's. Hopefully some larger 5" specimens will be more hardy but I've also learned a lot about them and other bloat sensitive fish. I agree about 'fad' fish. I see that a lot with cichla. Once a new one becomes available you see the last 'flavor' all over the boards for sale. My personal belief is that many hobbyists jump right into the rare cichlids without ever keeping the bread and butter cichlids like Oscars, Texas, JD's or even convicts. Heck, I still have a soft spot for a really nice adult JD, Texas or Managuense. I even have an oscar and a pair of convicts right now. Nostalgia!! Haha. Not making any judgements though.

On the Green Terror front I'd like to get some more of the 'True' Rivulatus.

I am not into the whole must have because it is rare. I have never ordered fish before (though I'd like to), so the hard to find list is much bigger for me. Most fish are common because they are great to keep and have lasted through the years. Some fish are rare and uncommon in the trade because they just aren't attractive. My "holy grail" short list: cubans, grammodes, istlanum and reallybigfish's male gt if he parts with it.
