How is it possible that your filtration systems take up so little footprint?!? Are you using the Ultima II more for mechanical filtration or for biological filtration? How often do you backwash it? I still can't work out where the mechanical filtration takes place!

How is the arowana doing by the way? Has he grown at all since you put him in your tank?

im using the ultima 2 for biological filtration, and so far ive only backwashed it once in 7 months,
im using a Sta-Rite System 3 sm120 filter for mechanical filtration, and ive only backwashed it every other month,
it is not in the pics but it is before the ultima filter, im looking for a uv filter for after the ultima filter to kill bacteria, at the moment i keep the water at 83 degrees and that keeps me from having problems with ich, but id still like to add a uv in the mix,
he is doing great, he started eating and then took on a growth spurt where he grew about 2 inches longer, now i think hes getting fatter since he dont look to be getting longer, but it is hard to tell when you see the fish everyday
