He went for a pc of shrimp yesterday and spit it out. I was supprised. I think he will eat them soon.

yea it should be fine and eating really soon. I have caught them on live bluegill,shad,shrimp,crawfish,crapie,and shad guts, they are eating machines, I had 2 in my pool/pond at one time with some yellow bass white bass, plus other blackbass species(lmb,smb,rock bass ect..) anyways my two starting eating the yellow and white bass. I later lost all the fish in that pond when power went out and I was on vacation. I was pissed, I lost a ton of fish over that. 
Yum 6" swim baits in very fast rapids below the dam at the Falls of the Ohio River.
I actually do better using live creek chubs in the 5-9" range and live crayfish. The season is starting to pick up and I cant wait to get back out there!

those things make be mad. a few weeks ago i went fishing and this lake had like 20 12" ones right on the shore. i was there for 2 hours just trying to catch them from the shore. i later fond out that they were regularly fed feeders for the othher fish in the lake.
I HAVE BEEN CATCHING A LOT LATELY NOTHING OVER ABOUT 14" BUT 12-13 EVERYDAY. HARD FIGHTING FISH!
