If you don't mind me asking why do you hate hybrids.

There are species out there that are being threatened with extinction because they are being over fished. I see nothing wrong with crossing two species to make a new fish that we can enjoy in our aquariums.

Do you feel the same way about humans who are not 100% pure in one specific nationality.

Just something to think about Bro.

nothing wrong with humans of diffrent nationalys getting it on :D

i would mind if a man bred with a monkey or a goat

thats what thease hybrids are 2 diffrent types of fish that wouldnt normally breed being put into one

now another smart thing is to cross breed something that can grow to 3ft this will surely increase the chances of it getting put into public waterways when it gets to big for the owner

So you only hate hybrids that were created from species that would not normally breed in the wild or the fact that they get big.

If some one released a 3' RTCxTSN in a waterway chances are they would not breed with anything, but if some one released a 15" oscar into the waterway chances are high they would breed with another species.

chances are a hybrid cat would breed with what ever it can because it doesnt know what it is his self

this is why we are seeing lou han/flower horn breeding with convicts and other fish

back to your other point about fish being fished to extintion dont you think this type of test tube breeding would be put to better use trying to save the near extint fish rather than makeing so kind of 3ft monster

natraul hybrids no problem this kind of man made crap i hate it

from everything i have red. most hybrid cats are infertile.

didnt they say that about flower horn and parrot fish at 1st now you hear my covict x parrot my fower horn x this and that

My two cents - Yeah I HATE hybrids, its just a personal thing. I also don't like "long-finned" fish, "short-bodied" fish, and frankly I'm not much of a fan of albino anything. I just really think fish are most beautiful in thier natural form the way mother earth intended them to look...

HOWEVER...

Calling them garbage and "trailer trash" fish is a little out of line...I try not to crap on what other people think is cool, everyone is entitled to thier own opinion after all. Didn't you see the classic movie Bambi? "if you cant say something nice, don't say anything at all" :)

They are like 99.9% infertile. They cannot breed with fish other than fish within their genus. So chances of one being release and breeding with anything in north america 0%. Hybrids actually reduce the chances of breeding in the wild. They will simply take up space until they die. where as if you put full blooded fish into tropical waters (california, and florida) they will breed and they will populate. hybrids will simply either live or die depending on the water temps. The main reasons that cichlid hybrids can breed is that that .1% is sought out by breeders so that they can inbreed it and make a fertile hybrid. 2nd generation hybrids from hybrid parents are about 15% fertile, then 3rd gen are about 25-40%, and so on, and so forth. It is very unlikely that any of the catfish hybrids are anything other than 1st gen. Therefore you are looking and zilch to no chance of breeding unless you disect and analyz thousands of them to find one with fertile gonades, and thousands more with fertile eggs. Full blooded catfish are hard enough to breed, much less their hybrids.

Those are probably 4th and 5th gen hybrids that are fertile. Fertility is rare in 1st gen hybrids. All cichlid hybrids are more than likely past 2nd gen. All catfish hybrids are most definitely 1st gen hybrids. These fish will not breed naturally and thus all catfish hybrids that we have are produced through disection. You'd have to disect thousands of hybrids in order to find just one with fertile gonads, and how many adult hybrid catfish do you see?
