Thinking on doing this ( see attached picture ) , in a shed to house my Silver Awo' and Oscar , then i am thinking on getting a RTCxTSN along with a couple of other fish .

What you think ?

I have also posted in the Catfish section asking on size and heating , but if anyone else has some ideas on - things like heating , filtering , lighting , fish stock ideas . Ect' . Please post here .

Bump !

Planning on buillding it up with wood and putting pond liner in , and filting it with a large pond pump and UV filter . Heating i am thinking for now 4/ 5 300Watt tank heaters . not sure ifi should pt a fin layer of sand at the bottom too or just leaving it bare .

Should i place some mixed size rocks in there and/ or some Diftwood and some hiding places/ tunnels or not ?

You will def. have to insulate the shed, maybe even heat it to maintain a semi-constant temp. A big wet/dry or bio-tower will be needed for the necessary BB plus some form of mechanical to remove solids.

O' yep i am gong to insulate it , run a large pond pump and filter for the first couple of months and see what its like and if need be get another one and run two side by side . For heating i am going to have 4/ 5 300Watt Tank heaters in the pond and like you have said i probily will need a normal heater that will stand in the shed to keep the whole shed warm in the winter time , i was thinking that earlier but wasnt sure .

What about the sand on the bottom and rocks , tunnels idea ? Or is that just persanal taste .

Also what about lighting ? Will a normal celin light be ok ? I dont what too much light that the shed will ' glow ' , but i dont want the shed been very dark and not been able to see the fish .

decoration is personal preferance, with the fish mentioned i would go with a small pea gravel and maybe a nice big piece of wood, as you are planning on pond liner'ing it i would stay away from rocks and remove any sharp bit's from the wood. for lighting i would get a 6ft double tube unit like they use in office's, you can get them from an electrical factors, that should supply you with enough light.

Thanks im going to have a look into some strip lights see how much they are , i just want to get it started , but cannt until after X-mas . :( :) .
