new irwini!-)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got a tiny 1" one but it ate nothing and died after about a week as did most of the ones in the shop so I got a refund on that one :banghead:
I'm always on the lookout for a decent sized one though , one will turn up soon enough

Lol! I do like the way you worked Irwini into it. How bout instead "The Mega Megalodoras race, who will Irwinni?" What do you think? Figured one of us can start the thread so we can start recruiting other Irwini owners while we're getting our definitive measurements. As for the title luckily if we think of a better one later I can just go back an change it as well as edit the original post to list the participants and their Irwini's sizes.

Shark Aquarium has a Megalodoras at 3 inches now for $39.99 and I think the list is accurate because he just revamped his website. As for getting small Irwini's to eat, don't feel to bad they can be pains to get feeding. Between their extreme reclusiveness at small sizes and their less then aggressive feeding style they can be tricky to keep. If you do get a small guy again, what worked for me was keeping him in a barren 10 gallon or other small tank with extremely dim or red lighting or no light except the ambient lighting of the room. They can be put off by aggressive feeders so I find this is the best way to get some size on them is by keeping them alone and in small surroundings to allow them to easily detect the food. I also used live food at first, namely blackworms; and I soaked pellets in the blackworms and introduced both at the same time in the hopes he'd eat them accidentally. Each day I'd decrease the amount or worms and hope to force him to eat more pellets. It worked fairly well and even at a small size he became a fairly good eater. Here's a 2-3 incher I had and you can see he was a decent eater by that little belly.

This is really tempting me to get one again :D

Cool mate I'll give it a go if I get the urge , that will involve another tank :banghead: even a 10 gal , might keep looking for a bargain one on aqu class ;)
Forgot to ask when you ordered pellets the other day was it still free shipping ? I've just tried an order of £75 and its not coming up with the free option so I've put the order off :(

Age starting to catch up with you!? :D Thanks, I do love their juvenile coloration; their base is almost a salmon color under the brown blotches. The little guy grew all right till about 6 inches when I sold him, his bigger partner(his tail is visible behind the rock) how ever never grew an inch during that time, just hovered around 6 inches or so since I bought him. :screwy:

Lol been up watching the isle of man tt racing, vikings and game of thrones lol, three days of bed at midnight up at 545 caught up haha...

I think we need to rally up some irwini owners like you say, maybe a show your irwini thread first?
