This will go perfect with your maple. Japanese Black Pine. Been training this one for 15 years from a sapling. I bent the main trunk in two places and got it to lean. Still studying on how to trim it. Cut the wrong branch and it'll take ten years to grow back. Not really...I'm just lazy. Trunk is now 3" diameter. Last trimming was three years ago.

I've got a Chinese Privet bonsai. This is a pic of it when I first got it a year ago. Its still going strong! I'm really getting into bonsai but failed miserably when I tried Mangrove in my tank...I'll have to check out your link MadMaxx...
