New lighting on (well, above) the 300

I think it looks awesomeness the way it is.

I'd go a little lower b/c of glare.
Hang a 2nd set of chains from your hooks in the ceiling that are 1/2 of the length of the others. When you need access to the tank just hook one side up to the shorter chain, then the other, and you have access. And the tank is still liighted while you work on it.
Just a suggestion.

I just finished the lighting on the 300. I'm using 6000k T8s. I have the light about 5" above the tank, but I was wondering if I should raise it or lower it. Opinions? Thanks

yea, I just did the same thing to the tank with the perch lol....

I may go take a couple of quickies to show how it looks too.
Once I got that on the 300 the 265 looked silly with the lighting it had, so I did the same thing to it.
