New Mahseer Pickups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Any idea why the mussullah is so rare? I know the putitora is endangered in the wild and overfishing has led to the decrease in their numbers. But you don't hear too much about mussullah. Are they also a protected fish? I'd love to own one during my lifetime. But on another note, has anyone ever requested you for malaysian red mahseers? Not sure on the species on those.

To be honest, I'm just as new to these fish as you. I don't really have any knowledge about their growth rates and preferred parameters but I keep my temp at 82 degress F. Thai blue mahseers are tropical so anything in the range of 80-84 should suffice. All I know is that they're from clean, fast flowing streams and rivers in the wild. I have a lot of flow in the tank and they enjoy it. In my opinion, they're not picky with parameters as long as water is pristine. I don't test my water parameters at all and they're doing great. Very hardy fish but I read that it's a must to add dechlorinator right after taking out the water and while adding water back to the tank during a water change. I change about 40%-50% a week. They're not too picky with food, I'm feeding them hikari lionhead sinking goldfish pellets and hikari sinking carnivore pellets. There's not a whole lot of info about mahseers on the net so I will try my best to document their growth and share it with you guys.

They eat a lot! Just got my food supply in.

Thanks, yes that's the putitora. I sold all my blue mahseers to a friend. I'm focusing on my main fish now such as my african tigerfish, putitora and armatus.
