New Marineland canister

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just checked eBay. Nothing.

That sucks, the 30 and 60 were awesome products.

I have seen them for sale and they look nice but they seem to be for smaller tanks. Maybe if they are successful they might produce a high capacity version.

They do. It's called a Tidepool.

WOW! It's a glorified XP3!!!!
NEAT!
I WONT waste my time or money.

The bypass is about 10% in this thing. When they tested the other big brands they found that some had up to 80% bypass, the best ones had about 30-40%. Not just a glorified Rena. I think they still have a couple improvements to make, I have seen one in person when the rep brought one to the LFS I work at. We will be carrying them asap.

What makes it better than an XP3?

The seals that prevent all that bypass. The trays are sealed together to prevent bypass. The gph rating is based on fully loaded trays with the canister under the tank whereas other companies usually have the trays empty and sit the canister next to the tank when measuring its gph (as if gph should really be that important anyways, but I know some people base their filters on mainly the gph). Do you use Rena Filstars? If so why not step up to Fluval or Eheim? Yes the Marineland C-seires canister filters have wide shallow trays like a Filstar, but that doesn't mean it is just another company's version of the same filter.
