lol, jewels are one of the meanest fish available!-)

you would be correct. along with the filtration to go with it. while Oscars usually get 11 to 13" in the tank, they are tall thick fish. large body mass means large bio load. big dif in a bio load from say a 14" jag and 14" Oscar.

lol, sold 16 F1 jags to the local LFS 3 weeks ago, they have them marked as jewel. just ridiculous.

If jewels are the meanest, then the one I have is a reject from the family! Lol.
Filtration on the tank is a fluval 406/306 and fluval 110 hob. Plus water change every week-2 weeks.
I had my 10" + oscars in a 180 gallon and that was to small to begin with, which is why I will be doing a 240.

ohh they new, should say she new. showed vids of mom and dad, explained F1 jags. jewels african , these SA and get quite a bit bigger. she miss representing on purpose.

Oh, well then lol.
Maybe the ones here do that.. Eh, nevermind they have no idea. Most don't even care, They had a recommended tank size of 50 gallons for their oscars. I feel bad for whoever gets them for a small tank, not to mention the fish!

you can do a 75g jewel tank, no way you going to do a 4 or 5 fish jag tank in 75g.

So jewels don't get that large? I bought mine 4-5 years ago but it was a mislabeled tank. I was told it was a Texas cichlid and I didn't have much experience with them.

6" is a large one, 3 to 5" the norm, male jag? 14" in about 2 years if kept right. female 8 to 10" .
