my rescue female about 9" my WC female atm is about 6" , my WC male less than a year old just passed the female about 7" jewel cichlids at this point either food or competition, dead either way.

Ok, so the jewel is about maxed out.
I don't know much about jags, i am assuming there are several varieties?
I have really just done Oscars to this point, as far as large fish go. Did have an arowana but haven't tried them again. I am looking at raising some others and get more knowledge. Was thinking Jd or EBJD, maybe a dovii?

tank size we talking about here?

Forget the dovii get an umbee. :D
I've had both and IMHO umbee are much more colorful and much less skittish and picky when it comes to food

ATM tank size needs to be known.

its a moot point if we talking about a 75g or a 125g. umbee or dovii need a 250 at least.

I was also, thinking each oscar needed about 55-60gallons a piece? Is that still a pretty good amount of space?
Future planning, I would like 4 large oscars in the same tank for a variety. Doing that I was thinking of a 240 gallon tank.
Tank footprint is just as, maybe more important than volume per fish. I wouldnt put 4 Oscars in anything less than 8ft and 300gals. Filtration would have to be massive and water changes equally as big. Quality Oscar care can easily produce 15in fish. They dont get enough room and clean water, they wont reach their potential.

The 240 is an 8 foot tank but I may just go to a 300 8 foot.
As far as the Jd and Ebjd they will go into a 100 gallon to start then probably a 160-180.
Umbee and Dovii may be a bit large at this point. Justifying 2 250+ tanks to the gf may be war lol.
As is sits, I have a 75g, 100g, 125g. I will be getting the 240 or 300 for the bigger Oscars.
Was thinking the 100 gallon for dempseys to grow and then upgrade them to a 165g. Moving the oscars to the 240/300g.

Just a tip with EBJD. It is a genetically weak strain of JD. Nowhere near the temperment of a reg JD. VERY slow growth rate and prone to all sorts of probs, especially under 3ins. Very likely will not do well with a reg JD, prob be right out killed. A beauty fish indeed, but needs significant care and attention to get it to size where it can survive with other fish.

+1 EBJD up to drop dead for no reason. They are not hybrids but a mutation, and prone to every thing else genetically that comes with it. regular male JD a great looking fish. here is vid in mating color. wait for it male comes out.
