New Metallica...

  1. Lots of bashing and not understanding. You dont just make all your music for your fans only.I never hated the stuff as they matured through the black album and all the other stuff later.I enjoyed the st anger as if it were a diferent band or maybe a side band from them, other than how he sang all over the place sometimes I wished he would shut up.lol.
  2. Now,I grew up on the old stuff being 33 years old and them being the first albums I ever bought. They got me to start playing music myself and became a prety good guitar player, bass and a wee bit drums.Since the black album,I have not heard a single song that made me want to run home and jam it on the half stack.Thats made me sad for many years, lol.Their taste changed from mine and james blew his voice on justice tour so I think he tried several singing ways in order to make sure he could last. Some live stuff made me want to cry.
  3. I bought this album today while shaking my head all the way to the car thinking, damn,I love you guys because your music and faces have been a huge part of my live since young but dammit, please dont let me hate all of it.Or at least dont go down as the band that never got an edge back.Well.
  4. James remembered that he had talant.Trulio remembered he used to be in suicidal.Kirk remembered that he is one of the most jammin soloist.Lars, that son of a gun remembered that he has a left foot. The words are thoughtful and so are the melodies and riffs.Parts all over the place make you want to grab your gear and jam.Very influenced by master of puppets and old anthrax stuff.James didnt feel the need to sing and whine all over.I grew up on suicidal, slayer, anthrax ozzy, overkill, exodus and all that crap. This album has a place for me.So once again, though its been since jr high,I can say dude, check this song out, yeah its metallica man, lol.
  5. So to you doubters, alot of the songs start jammin in different spots so dont think they are all slow. Most is fast.THis is a great album,by far better than the black album of change. For being their age and all theyve been through,I was suprised at some of the speedy stuff on this,it actualy has a little of that mystical feel of the old stuff here and there.Somebody must have said hey james, heres an old album of yours and some other old metal albums, listen to them for like a month and then go play your damn guitars, lay off that rockabilly for a while, lol.
  6. Anyways guys,I think cyanide is the worst song if that helps you at all.I still like it but dont judge the album by it.Peace.:)

I remember way back in the day after the Black Album, everyone was praying Metallica wouldn't go downhill - then MTV aired Until It Sleeps and they changed to that stupid star/jagged metal pointed symbol and it was all over for most of us.

I wrote them off for a very long time as sell outs, and never really expected them to touch anything they were doing back in their thrashy days - especially with Burton, who was the main focus of how heavy they really were live (if you had the pleasure of seeing them play when Cliff was still alive, he was a head banging machine), gone after the bus accident.

I won't listen to any of their stuff after The Black Album, in fact I think The Black Album was also a load of crap. Their best stuff to this day still remains Kill Em' All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, And Justice For All...

This album is the first thing they've put out that I've listened to all the way through, and more than once. While it doesn't touch upon the other guys like Testament and Exodus who have stuck to their guns for all of these years, in a day and age where the old school melodic thrash is dying out to blast beats and screaming - this album is a breath of fresh air.

EDIT: I never let who the guys are affect my interpretation of the music. After being a roadie for Pantera a while I came to the realization that most musicians are giant douche bags, and if you let who they are and how they act affect how you perceive their music you'll pretty much wind up not listening to anything. The one thing I could not stand over their last few albums was James tremolo/vibrato crap he kept doing, and he's pretty much stopped it completely in this album. Which is a huge step forward to me.

I just got the new album and I'm liking it so far! I like all of Metallic's albums, but St. Anger is my least favorite

i bought st anger and with in 10 minutes it was thrown out my truck window.... so i wont waste my ears on this one....

I guess I'm the only one who likes St. Anger...
im with you... only 2 of us?

I downloaded it this weekend and heard one good song. I guess Metallica just doesn't do it for me anymore. It's a good album as far as Metallica goes but it's nothing ground breaking or awesome. It's what they should have been releasing all along.

I won't be keeping it.
