Cool fish. I've looked for these and I can't ever find them. One site had them but of course "out of stock"..
 
If this is against the rules I apologize. What does anyone know a place that currently has stock on these?
 
Neat. I'm a big fan of SA pikes, so I'm surprised I hadn't come across these NA species in my frequent google image searches. :p
Probably because those pikes you are into are not true pikes but actually cichlids.Nice little guy,I'd like to have one some day.

lol I forgot how they can get confused sometimes.....As stated, the Pike family consists of our Esox species as well as some European ones and then the African Pike is something totally different also. The SA Pike-Cichlids are not related to the others, as they are simply elongated cichlids that IMO appear to behave similar to Parachromis species. Pikes and Pike-Cichlids should probably be distinguished as the topic of dicussion, but internet-shorthand has made it a little blurry at times.

.....and the African pike that you mentioned is a characin.

totally new fish to me, just found out about them since joining.....only thing I DID know was they aren't an Esox :)
The odoe is quite an impressive fish in its own right once it gets some size on it.
