WOW..... What an AWESOME BASS!!! I am so jealous!!!
It’s crazy beautiful. Thanks so much dude! Just wait till you see what’s coming soon

Congrats bro.

they are spectacular once they hit those sizes. If I’m not mistaken I think Azul are a fairly slower grower so it might give the others some time to catch up.

has it shown any signs of trying to eat the smaller ones? I had an ocel close to that size that was really kind to a kel that was about half its size but not so nice to a different ocel that was much smaller than itself.

Thanks man! Naw he’s super chill and they all get along well. I’m not sure he’s a slow grower though haha he’s only a few weeks past a year old with another 14-16 inches to go? he might be a champion grower. Drunken has only fed him pellets it’s whole life though so it even leaves my 6.5” laulau alone. Just from personal experience cichla seem to avoid eating each other if possible after around 3”. I think they prefer having the school for a sense of safety

Yes that fish was bought at 1 inch and is alittle under 14 months old...im not gonna lie and say that your smaller bass dont make me nervous but i can tell you that i added a 5 inch albino chilt red oscar in the tank about 6 months and he has never been touched. I started the 5 one inch azuls by themselves in a 240 gallon and moved them onto the 450 probably around 6 inches ...they were on a diet of pellets 5 days a week with shrimp or tilapia on the other 2. Massive filtration system.....about %170 water change done weekly ( auto drip system ) 0 to 5ppm nitrate average. Fish were never gut loaded ..just daily small to moderate amounts and never have any major aggresion issues. Believe it or not blakes fish was one of the small guys in the group lol. I would just recommend to keep him fed and watch the smaller fish because he looks like a giant in there! I know hes gone to a good home in fact i remember when we first contacted the first thing i asked blake was the size of his tank. And im not going nowhere...if hes causing trouble and u want me to babysit him while the others play catch up just let me know.

Really cool story. I love it when things like this work out.
Now I am wishing that I didn’t pass up the azul that was in my lfs because of fear of it now growing fast enough to get caught up with the old crew ??‍♂️
Live and learn I guess.
