That's a bummer, you should have bought an Eheim - they can last twenty years, in my experience.
It is the breaking part that really gets expensive...
Well, not to start an argument here but anything 'can' last 20 years. My old POS aqueon hob filter should have died long ago. I buy it used from a guy who bought it used snd so forth. The label on it says 1992. Btw it might not be Aqueon I'm just assuming it is; it looks similar. It reminds me of a marineland b4 the biowheel I suppose. It is so old the whole filter has some sort of decaying organic mulm about 2" thick on the bottom. I start gagging when I clean the thing and use quarantine equipment. And I wear a surgeons breaher mask.
