It was a "buy it now." Didn't even have to auction and there's different media packages for various applications. The one with 3 boxes of biomax and 2 boxes of prefilter is like 249 which is decent seeing as lfs charges 10 a box, so that's 50$ off so yea basically 200$ for new fx5, I'm sure there's other great filters out there, but IME fx5 is epic. Still wish I had the 2262 lol, I was very very close between the 2 when I finally made my purchase, but i still had to feed myself lol.

The 2262 is for when I hit the lottery hahaha. It's such a nice filter.....But how could I live with myself after paying that much when you can have a new FX5 for a fraction of the price.
Just picked up the CF 500 to supplement my 2 XP4's. Its gonna act as a mechanical filter only as my XP4's are bio loaded. What do you guys think? I can always put my own filter media in the canister, though I did grab a few extra large sponge filters for the canister. I do a ton of maintenance on my filters. I believe if you take care of your filters and dont let them get stressed or strained, they'll work fine whether it be a crappy filter or not. A filter simply pulls water, filters it, and returns it. GPH and canister material are your only real elements.
Just hooked my cfs 14i up with ease. I plan to conduct a full review of this product in the near future.
one thing i can say off the bat is the customer service at aquatraders does not exist. you can call the phone number and they will not answer. My cfs 14i was delivered without any paperwork or instruction. I also cant get them to respond via email about proper set up for the filter.
