is it hard to tell the difference if a true midas has some red devil mixed in it?

here's a question that is at least as hard to answer:

what's the difference between a Petsmart Midas and a Petsmart RD?

they are selling them in two seperate tanks at my local petsmart right now. If I had the room, I'd buy two of each, grow them out and document how (or if) they look any different as adults.

Edit: of course, right now, they are babies, and the RDs are light orange, with faint black bars. the Midases are just oarange with black splotches.

I dont think its easy to tell if one fish has some genes of another fish. Red Devils and Midas look very similar, but seems when they grow up they have some small differences such as Red Devils have larger lips and a longer snout. I think there have been a few posts on this topic.

I am guessing this is like asking which is more? 6 on one hand or half dozen in the other. I have wondered the same thing and this is my conclusion. Of course I haven't put it to the test but it is my current belief.

bluekiller i got my guy from petsmart marked as midas, has more devil look to him. but still grew to be a great fish.

How about an update??

Look the same as first pics. But wait theres more.

These ones were taken today. For some reason my dominant fish's colors are showing alot more black, the other has some slight black along top of dorsal fin. I assume theres no way to tell how these guys will look.

This pic throws the sizes off, one is only slightly bigger than the other.

Been a while Since I have updated. The two started to not like each other and were constantly fighting so I kept the better looking on in my opinion. Hes about 5" now, growing a little slower than I expected.
