New PetSmart tags reveal Blood Parrot parentage?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thoughts are they have taken the most probably mixture of blood parrots and used that.
it means nothing, if petsmart all of a sudden know what goes into a blood parrot, why dont they look after their fish a bit more.

you can still go into stores where you will have an ignorant little child insist to you that it is a severum x red devil. truth is, there is more to it than just that.

if they are insinuating that a blood parrot with full red coloration and a acceptable body shape comes from f1 using only synspillum and midas of red devil well thats just plain stupid. What we can say from views it definatly has clashes of genes from the amph. and vieja species. Its a hybrid of hybrids.

fish went into making hybrids, those hybrids were line bred, those hybrids were hybridised, wooolah the blood parrot.
i dont think there is a single person alive today that is not a breeder that would be able to replicate the blood parrot without having the deoxy ribonucleic acid structure analysed in a lab, then bred for years and years in the exact right sequence to acheive the same outcome.

It's not like it was ever a secret, even line breeding or breeding back to the parent would still make it a midas/syn cross.

but what i am saying its not going to be a straight midas, a fish more like the Red Mein

now this is a lot more likely, the real red colouration shown in the blood parrot is not generated of that by a midas, the midas does not naturally have such red colouration. so there would have been line breeding, such line breeding and cross breeding to produce the red mein, now what i am saying it is not straight midas x syn. there is nothing basic about the composition of a blood parrot.

yes what you have said will produce a blood parrot looking fish, but i am talking about the good quality blood parrot, that are out there. not the yellow / orange ones.

Nice to see Petsmart isn't completely retarded. Tag means nothing though. I personally believe this to be the true parentage but you will get different answer depending on who you speak too. There has never been a 100% confirmation on its parentage.

+1
Also nice to see the change in 'maxium size' for BPs, it went from 6 inches to 8-10 inches.
