You bought it from a LFS, its their problem, they should now what they are selling. Your no fish expert...someone said it was a walking catfish, but someone else told you it was a 'golden shark', and they are not banned by the lacey law. Dont kill it, just keep it, and dont release it, which you shouldnt do with any of your fish legal or otherwise.
I bought some cool loaches not knowing what they were a few months ago...on researching them i think they are weather loaches, which are illegal here, but i'm no ichtheologist, so I'm not qualified to tell. Are you an ichtheologist? Is anyone who told you what it is?

I'm extremely jealous! I've wanted one of these guys forever, but they are illegal in all the states. I had heard something about being able to get a $90 permit of some kind to be able to keep them... dont know if it was true or what permit it was... but if i find any info on it, I'll post it here
that IS MOST DEFINITELY a GOLDEN SHARK, nothing else and they are perfectly legal everywhere.. I am btw the catfish god, necro and basslover are but my apostles here on earth.. keep that golden shark and never buy one again!
