Had it in a 30.Should have known though, there was 5 in the tank and this one looked like the only one who hadnt ate but was marked the best.It never ate when i got it home either. No tank mates it was his home for awhile.Water was super clean like always.Ive heard it happens with small dats.Im going to call up there in a little while to see if they are sold out yet.

Yah, that does seem to be common with small dats. I was fortunate to have first pick at the store. I grabbed the 3 healthiest (and largest) out of the tank.

Plus, while I was drip acclimating, I dropped a cube of frozen bloodworms in, and all three were attacking it right away. They are very aggressive eaters, which is good, because they have to compete with 3 baby johanna pike cichlids and a baby gt for food. They get well fed though (2-3 times a day).

Nice dats Conner.
The un-stableness might be from your choice of substrate and/or choice of tank mates.
If they feel any need to be hidden they will try to blend in.
Good luck!

They were unstable when I got them, but they've since become almost completely stable. They seem to be doing fine in the tank. It's got a large piece of driftwood and lots of plants. The other fish don't bother them very much, they're all pretty much just interested in any food I might be dropping in.

They are VERY attentive whenever I'm in the kitchen though, and always come to the front of the tank to watch me. Its kinda cute...

I'll try to get some pics tonight.

Yeah I have 15 of them in my bedroom. When I open the door I have all 15 of them along with 2 EBJD's and 2 sevrums rushing to the front of the glass looking to see if I brought them something:D.

Nice pickup Conner!
