I see that you are already becoming an Polypterus addict

My new 5" sen never shows any interest in any of the food I try to offer him. I've tried to give him bloodworms, mealworms and shrimp but while the other fish eat he just cruises around. Even when he is near the top right next to a worm he simple avoids it. Last night when I put some feeders in for another fish I notice the bichir was following one of the rosies around like he was stalking it. I didn't think to much of it because the rosy looked way to big for him to swallow. all of sudden he grabbed the minnow by the tail and started shaking it and trying to swallow it. He did not succeed but that was the first time in a week I've seen him interested in anything. Should I get smaller feeders and see if he goes after them or continue trying to give him worms? I really don't want him to be always eating minnows and small fish but I don't want him to starve either.

floating right now. i'll give the shrimp pellets a go.

First of all senegals for me don't seem to eat freeze dried shrimp so that maybe one of your current problems. Another thing you could do is try to get some frozen beefheart and try that if that fails try some earthworms or baitworms make sure that you cut them up first. Or you could try and get some freeze dried krill and handfeed it to him. Again make sure its no bigger than his head this may take a while to get him to eat the krill but should work. Good Luck with feeding your senegal

he/she's lookin good.

i just used shrimp pellets and they love them.:grinno:
