No. Just no. How do you get ride of parasites without medication?

No Teleost is correct. Do you believe anthelmintics are toxic to worms only? These are poisons. The fish is able to deal with the poison better than the parasite. But it still takes a toll on the fish. This parasite cannot spread to other fish unless you have great blue herons cruising through your house. They will dissappear, and cause no real harm to the fish. So why poison your fish slightly, to rid it of a parisite that does no harm? The treatment here is worse than the disease it cures.

What are the chances that a correct dose is going to kill a fish?
The parasite disappeared after raising the temp to 85 anyway and after 3 doses of 1 drop/2 gallons of quick cure to cure ick. And know what? My fish are fine.

Depends on the medication and the species. If you know what you're doing and apply the right medication at the right level to the right fish for the right parasite/disease the chances are low.

Let me ask you this......What are the chances the black spots will infect other fish?....let me answer for you.....ZERO!

Edit....I almost forgot that you need to take into account for all of the tankmates before you medicate. This naturally can easily change the medication type and level easily.

I'm sorry for being so rude.:(
I'm not even sure if it was the parasite or not, but I just didn't want it in my tank, or spread to my ram cichlids.
And I did take the tankmates into affect for the medication, because I was treating for ick, and in that case the dose was lowered to half the regular amount.
But none of my fish have blacks pots anymore, and I apoligize for being rude to teleost and Skipjack.
And you were right about the medications.

I also do not think it was a parasite at all. Because I have a small mouth with black dots and that seems more like "Black spot" than what my gourami had. I think those dots on my gourami had to do with his wound he had because thats where they first appeared.

Apology accepted and thanks. All is good here.

I'm glad the fishes are doing well.
