New Ray tank arrived today

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i didn't know the male was that old it was worth paying a bit more for a ray of that age

i would still be worried with a 2 year old male and pup

they maybe fine now but until the male has matured with full clasper's you wont know how he will react to the pup

it maybe worth adding a larger female

2 females to 1 male is safer

Yes, I appreciate this could be an issue. I would love to add a female Leo mid way between the sizes but I would want to make sure she was captive bred and I am a little worried that I would be replacing the tank much sooner with 3 rays in there.

I will keep an eye on them but if a female tempts me then she may go in and the new tank may just happen sooner.:headbang2

Hi Toby. I have a marble female pup from Richard that I put in with mature male and I worried to start off with as the male was much larger. The female is nearly the same size as the male now and I have not had any problems. If anything the female beats the male up!

Good luck with your pair and as long as you have some sort of divider you can use if things go wrong as a backup then you will be fine. Egg crate is easy to get hold of and is ideal as a temporary divider should you ever need one.

Thank you - I have now got hold of some egg crate as a short term measure if needed.

If they need to be separated, exspecially if breeding, then I have a 4 car fully insulated and centrally heated on its own boiler garage which is in danger of becoming a 3 car with fish house / pond area....the wife just does not know it yet:D In fact I have a classic car stored in another which could be sold and then my wife would be very happy to give up the space.

Sounds like a plan to me !!!

Make sure you post some pictures of your new fish house :D

Toby, cars belong either on the side of the road or on the drive......that building you mention is a fish house waiting to happen..lol !!

you will prob be OK with the male and female all rays are different

my mature male ripped a small female to bits within the 1st few days now the female has fully healed and the male shows no interest at all

Thanks for the info guys.

I do like to garage my cars, especially in the hot weather as they are much cooler to drive when you get in.

I did have the forsight to invest in a fully insulated inch thick garage roller door and a side entrance. There is an office above and a workshop on the side - we built it about 6 yrs ago and it is the size of a small 3 bed house.

I will try and find a pic so you know what I mean
