I wish I could find him so I at least know where he is, but he's no where to be found.
:grinno: does one of your new rays look nice n full now? The fish I had in my tank for cycling got eaten on the first night when I got my rays.

It seems either the rays, my cat and or dogs got the ray. He is no where to be found. I think i'm going to get aro that is a little larger. My lfs thinks it was the ray. I did see the ray doing something and then when the ray moved there was a big crater in the sand. MY lfs said that's what happens when their eating something. It sucks the the aro is gone, but I'm glad it was eaten and didn't suffocate from jumping out of the tank. I cannot think of anything else.

I just got back from picking up frozen blood worms. One of the rays was swimming around, the other one hasn't really moved much. I dropped some blood worms in and covered the tank with a blanket to help keep it darker. There's a sliding door by the tank so some light gets through even with the blinds shut.

Glad to see you uploaded the bucket pic to MFK! :)

As far as the aro goes, it's probably the cat. ^.^

I'm so glad that all of your excitement and research has come to today! Like I said before, I hope you can get them on frozen. If not, try chopped nightcrawlers.

Try not to lose your new black aro this time! lol!

The one ray that's been extremely active dose look a little larger. When I walked into the room to take a picture of the aro the one ray's spiracles were going nuts. When he moved thats when I saw the crater in the sand. Haven't seen the aro since then. He's def not in the tank, overflow or sump. He had to have been eaten by something. Which I'm ok with as long as he didn't suffocate.

Hmmm trying to find the posts where ray owners don't think it is possible for a 5" ray to eat a 3-4" aro. Maybe this info was given to you in a PM?.

Wooow that could be awkward. It was me, of sorts. I doubted it at first, with the fact that he was within visual distance of them the whole time and there were no traces of the attack (scales, etc.) When I mentioned spiracle movement he said he saw them going crazy (which could indicate that the ray was feeding) and with no other explanation for the missing aro, it seems like a more reasonable explanation now.

That said, retics have almost painfully small mouths at 4"-5" sizes, and trying to fit an entire aro in there in a matter of seconds without anyone being the wiser would be unlikely. I've seen a large leo/pearl literally wrestle with a smaller aro, leaving scales and other various bits drifting in the water (and he didn't even get him!) Could it have been an extremely travel-starved retic that ate his arowana whole with no visible signs of it? sure.

I tried feeding frozen blood worms, that was a no go. I just cleaned them out. While cleaning the blood worms I checked the sand in the tank to see if I could find the aro. There were no traces. Hopefully the rays will start to eat soon.
