Just picked up this guy last week. Currently in a 75 gallon and eating ham, turkey, shrimp and pellets. This is my first MFK post, and I will be updating his growth!
He is a spotted red tail catfish, which means he just has a lot of spots in his genetic gene pool. I got him from Rainforest Farms International. And I have a 300 gallon tub which should last a year or two after he outgrows the 75
Cute lil' guy.. most of them when little have the spotting on their heads ime then it fades out as they grow... which is fast. Not sure if the spots compleatly vanish w/ age or if their black heads simply "hide" them? =) looking forward to pictures and questions in the future as well as build/filter threads!
I'll post more pics in the next couple days. He almost never comes out from his terra cotta pot unless it's dark. I'm feeding him shrimp stuffed with carnivore pellets because he doesn't like plain pellets and the ham and turkey is just a treat
Also he has pretty bad gill curl on his right side. I'm guessing he was in bad water before I got him. Anything I can do to fix it? I've seen people cut it off but he is so little it would be hard to do so. Thanks
