Not trying to hijack but.. I turn off filters on some of my tanks (not ray tanks as their food sinks quick) by plugging the filters into those cheap $5 timers you usually use for lights etc. I set up the timers up with the green "on" tabs (throw away the red "off" tabs) and use the override wheel to switch off the filter then spin the time setting round until the green tab is just about to click. About 30 minutes later the timer automatically switches my filters back on, perfect - and impossible to go to work without remembering to turn the filter back on.
