  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anything new with your rope fish? My ornate still is acting like your rope. Thought he was getting better but now my ornate is swimming upside down at times...

IME (and from what I've read, for a lot of people), when ropes do this the outcomes are not very good. I would expect the onset of white patches spreading from the tail up very soon. Sorry, hope I am wrong. Good luck.
^ same happened to one i had bought awhile back, he didnt make it :( i hope you have better luck than i did

No update. Still alive, same problem.

Might sound kind of morbid, but I'm hoping it'll either get better or die in the next couple days. Partly because it's obviously having a hard time, and partly because if it holds on for more than 3 days, I don't get a free replacement =/

This time I picked up the fish before the LFS owner had even taken them out of his supplier's bags. Next time I will have my LFS owner release the fish into his tanks and reserve them for me for a week.

At least all the congo tetras I bought at the same time are doing great. They were each almost as expensive as the ropefish.

I think they're probably just stressed about being shipped.
They were in a pretty small bag for their size.

could you post some pics of your tank, it sounds really serious there, perhaps its best to redo the tank from scratch. Did you quarantine that bichirs after you bought it?. I hate losing bichirs, and it happened to me before, and it was caused by the chlorine in the water. I lost three bichirs before and luckily I was able to save the rest. As for immediate treatment I separated those bichirs into other tank, using stock water and adequate filtration, and enough amount of salt to treat unknown infections and bacteria. That was all I did, and my bichirs live happily till now, but dunno if they happy to see me.
