Your 100% right. I now stock melafix and some others and will never NOT dose them again. Cheap insurance and I'll always wonder if I could have saved the four I had If I had given them a dose.

Your fish looks incredible........ I might be ready for #5 :screwy:

bob

Thanks bob that means a lot comming from you. I've been super careful with him since reading about everyone's dying. Other than the initial fin and tail rot he had when I first got him, he's been perfect. Doesn't breath heavy, but I keep his temps at 78 f., and he's been eating shrimp, and live worms only since I first got him. I have heavy aireation on his tank also. Twice weekly water changes. It's been a lot of work, but it's been worth it to raise this guy up. Hoping I can get him to more than 30" eventually. Certainly seems on track for it. If you do get another one keep us posted. I not only treat with melafix, but also for parasites with a half dose of coppersafe. Those are important, but they are not a solve all for frequent water changes. Hope this info helps all who are trying to keep them.

Wow necro I've watched your little guy go from 4" to over 15" now, he is a champ. BTW what size pond is that you have, what is it made out of, what kind of heaters, filtration, costs etc...just very curious, I'd love to have a 300-500 gallon pond for a couple TSNxRTC, MRTC, and a RTC.

If you had all of those cats in a pond that size it would only be a growout. That's why I am building a bigger tank. Costs for tubs that size are super cheap. I just priced a 9' dia tub that's 950 gal for $300. That would do those three by themselves for life I would think. More than that maybe, but you'll need super heavy filtration. I'll try to go more in depth later.
