Is this pool really that ghetto? Should I be embarassed? Because I'm happy and my sharks are happy.
People call it ghetto. I've spent over 3500 dollars so far. And it's far from over. I probably could have done it cheaper if I had done more looking around. My protein skimmer is worth more than most entire systems. But I won't go this route.

I need to know about nitrate and evaporation. As well as trace element supplementation for elasmobranch systems in between water changes.

I think your pond looks great just the was it is. If you wanted to get rid of the snow fence lid you could always try building something out of acrylic, like a lid or splash guard. As for the frame, you could wrap it in something to hide it. But like I said I think it looks great just the way it is.

Everything seems to be ok.
I can tell however that long term, the smoothhounds and cali rays are not going to be able to cohabit. Feeding time is hectic.

are there places where u alloud to take any if u would get a licence?
my ears would pop like crazy under water bad ears so never wil be able to dive not like they have cams on the beach to control every dive do they?

so what kinda colors did u get? do u got any thread where u have pics of your fish tank? or in ya profile? check that out first lol

It's illegal to take them from where I was diving. I support my local stores, and in turn, they hook it up when I need large quantities of supplies.

they wont? any other rays that can cohabit with ya smoothhound or ?
feeding time must be awesome to look at

Hey i gotta shout out the supplier of these smoothhounds. My business with him has been flawless. Hes a member of the www.sharkraycentral.com forum. He goes by the name blacktip17. I cant say enough about the quality of these Smoothies and of the other sharks ive seen him supply. Check him out, or send me a line if youd like to get in touch with him. I can also help you out if need be.

As for the pool, nothing really new has changed, been power feeding the sharks and fish, looks like the sharks already put on atleast an inch of length. Added some more pond bio-mat to the barrels for added media. Ummmm, added a huge bag of carbon. Still waiting for a decent algae mat to develop on my DIY algae scrubber. Im starting to think that perhaps the bulb i have illuminating the Algae Scrubber might not have enough lumens, might have to upgrade it to a bigger wattage.

Didn't want to post this but sadly I lost a smoothhound. Had a nitrite spike due in part to my anaerobic sand bed being stirred a bit. Used prime to detox the nitrite but I missed the 24-48 hour window one day and found the shark belly up. It was the only loss.

On a happier note the remora I put in the pool is doing great

Sorry to hear about your smoothie. That's a bummer that I know well.
