New Silver Aro Pics & Future Plan!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Not exactly a pond but a 35 gallon kiddie pool. It just has Goldfish in it for now. I might move this summer so I can't build an actual pond or get a stock tank yet but soon I will be getting a much larger kiddie pool. The pump is 400 gph pumped up into the 10 gallon bin. For my media I'm using lava rocks and filter floss. The pump also has a sponge on the intake as a prefilter. If you guys want I can upload more pictures tomorrow once it's cleared up and a bit sunnier. uploadfromtaptalk1391381445002.jpguploadfromtaptalk1391381463365.jpg

nice little pond and aro.

Hey guys,
I just got a baby Silver Arowana from my lfs about a week ago. I just wanted to share some pictures and let you guys know my future plans for him/her.

I currently have it in a 10 gallon grow out tank and have been doing about a 60% water change every three to four days. I'm giving it feeders for now but I want to try crickets this weekend. When I first put it in the tank it was with a baby Oscar and a very small cichlid. He was only in there with them for around 20 minutes before he started getting picked on. I moved the other fish out but he still got his rear fin torn up slightly. But he's all alone now and doing better.

Once he outgrown the 10 I will put him in a 55 gallon and then my 220.

I was wondering how long I have until he outgrows the 220 but once he does I want to build an outdoor pond for him.

Future tank mates
1 TSN
1 Black Convict
1 Bristle Nose Pleco
1 Senegal Bichir
1 Oscar
3 Blood Parrots (A small, medium, and largish one)
1 Silver Dollar
1 Fire Mouth Cichlid

My filtration on that tank is
1 Aquaclear 110
2 Canister Filters
1 Sump
And I have a few pothos.

Sorry for any grammatical errors. I'm doing this from my phone. Hold on I'll upload the pictures after this. :D

bro, better skip TSN and Oscar. LOL, not a great idea. Oscar will just make your tank messy later on, and TSN will swallow anything even when its hungry, i already tried. haha.

I put my Oscar in my 220 because he was beating up my Aro in the grow out tank and then when I put him with my Africans he got beat up. He lasted two days in the 220 and was eating good but then I never saw him again the next day so I assume he got eaten by my TSN.

keep us updated! nice looking aro, still have a long way to go haha

Hey guys! I moved the Aro to the 55 on Sunday so he hadn't eaten anything since then. I was giving the other fish some Tilapia fillets and surprisingly he took some as well almost instantly! I gave him about 6 little pieces. I'll try and upload a video of him feeding in a few days. As soon as he can start handling larger pieces of Tilapia I will start putting pellets in them. Everything is going great, he gets along nicely with his tank mates and I think he will really enjoy the extra height of my 220 once I move him later on. He never swims down past the middle of the tank.
Sorry for the bad pictures. uploadfromtaptalk1391569601187.jpguploadfromtaptalk1391569585352.jpguploadfromtaptalk1391569566648.jpguploadfromtaptalk1391569543225.jpg
