I agree with stanzzzz7, not only because the Central Americans would be geographically incorrect for the biotope, but because the Central Americans come from waters that are (for most of the year) harder, and much more alkaline than their South American cousins.
I raised a number of Guianacara in a 6ft tank right from the get go (at only 1") and they did very well. In fact they started spawning at only @ 2" in that 6 ft tank.
The 2" Guinanacara below have their green eggs hidden in the algae coated wood.

And in the large tank, with heavy water changes, didn't hamper their growth, I believed it enhanced it.

Very nice. And yes I will not be adding any central American fish to this tank. Going for a tank that closely resembles a biotope for these fish with soft water and lots of water changes.

Not even a year they grow fast strange 2 species out of one tank that were supposed to be bandit cochlids

Sounds like a great tank but I would not trust a sveni with Neons or Cardinals.
Mine at 3" can eat very big chunks of raw shrimp when I feed it and would have no problem eating a neon.

Ok ya I'll pass on the tetras but will find some sort of nice schooling fish to add. The Guianacara I'm getting are the red spotted ones from Suriname, pretty excited about those. Got them in this morning with the sveni and the Guianacara look great so far even at 1.5 inches. I lost one sveni during the shipment so am hoping to get a replacement soon from rapps. All the others look great with nice green streaks already coming in nicely. Can never go wrong getting fish from rapps. I'll order another 2 Guianacara and another sveni from him next week. Will post a pic of the tank their temporarily in soon

Got a little video of the little buggers. Looking into what type of angels to get. Really like the Orinoco, Atabapo and manacapuru red shoulder scalare. Might wait on getting those until I have the tank fully aquascaped first and I can then just add them right to that tank instead of having to put them in the other smaller tank with the other guys. Anyone have any suggestion where to get good altum juvies?

Ya they should perk up some more in a few days. They're in a mix of RO tap water so thr water is a bit softer then what they were being raised in but they should be golden. I'm doing about a 70/30 mix since I live out in the country and have well water. Well water has a pH around 7.5 so not bad at all but would like to replicate the wild so they don't develop HITH down the road so am keeping the water nice and soft for them. Plus it looks much more clean anyways.
