New Species in the Fish Room (Gymnogeophagus sp. "El Norte")

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats the one I was thinking of, can never decide if i like them or not.
I'd agree, they kinda look along the lines of what I would imagine a Geo x FH cross would look like. I still think they are pretty neat looks tho. Wouldn't mind trying some at some point down the line.

They are strange looking but sort of appealing at the same time. You would really need to like them to keep them I think.
I certainly prefer the OPs fish over them.

Yeah definitely true lol. Personally my favorite Geo is the Geophagus Pellegrini. I love em for their bright and unusual colors compaired to other Geo species.

Dominant males of many of the mouthbrooding Gymnogeophagus (labiatus, tiriparae, mekinos, pseudolabiatus, etc.) get a bug hump.

The key thing with all of these fish from Uruguay/temperate Argentina & Brazil is giving them a cool-down in the winter. If they don't get it, they'll look great for a year or so... and then succumb to all sorts of maladies.
