Something just seems different about it; nothing health-wise or anything like that, though. Could just be a gut feeling that's incorrect, though, so I wouldn't think anything of it.

There really are no good choices for native fishes that can go well with gars as they generally tend to either end up as gar food, are too aggressive to be kept with the gars, or need very different living conditions (in the case of the trout).

Should I leave them as a cool water fish or should I run heaters I got them at like 77 now but I'm thinking I could just leave it a cool water tank so I can put a bass with it

i had a smallie with mine, to aggressive at feed time. not so great for the gars.

x2.

As I stated before, most native fishes do not mix well with gars. An aquarium is a very different environment than nature, so just because gars live in the same waterways as some native fishes does not mean that they will work out in an aquarium.

But I see pics of people with people that have peacock bass with them all the time. I think of fish keeping as more of a try it and see if it works out deal. Instead of some one saying no it wont work.

were we are going to be starting our gar searches this summer there are lots of gars and smallies. one of the reasons i gave it a go. in the end it wasn't the best mix, but most of my gars figured out to wait till the bass was full before they would start to eat. the bass would also try to steal food from the gars. i am having a problem with food theft with my pbass/african tigerfish mix.

i am starting to get the feeling basses of all kinds need to be in a species tank.

I wasn't trying to take your glory from you on your post redbelly. How do I delete it now my damage is all ready done
