Another update 😁

have turned off all the lights in the room and 20 mins later the ray has come out so it may have been the room lights spooking him? Does that sound like it maybe the issue?

will keep the room lights off all night and monitor and tomorrow will cover the tank wit towels and see if he stays out or hides

Not sure if anyone is following but will keep posting in case 😂😂😂

he’s been out and about all last night and today, removing the Oscar’s seem to have helped. Still spends the majority of his day down this end though.

he didn’t eat this morning but I sliced up a prawn and he ate 3 small bits of it, tried to feed more but he swam over and nibbles but didn’t eat.

Positive signs tho, seems happier and more confident. Hopefully have him attacking food properly and eating big amounts soon

Last update,

he is no longer hiding or staying at one end swimming at the glass. Active all over the tank, especially likes swimming up the back glass.

eating - still not a huge appetite. On average he eats 1 massivore pellet in a sitting or 3 slices of fresh prawn which is probably a 1/3rd of a prawn. No interest in mussels super worms at the moment. In total 2 pellets and a 1/3rd of a prawn or 1

Should his appetite be higher than this?

Picture below of everyone happily cruising around

Yes, he should be eating more. But at least he is eating. May still be getting used to his new home. The large tank mates may have been bothering him.

Any update? I'm going through this too, but mine isn't eating anything. Chews it up quite a bit, spits it out. Does this several times then gives up. He does this to his shrimp. I've tried earthworms whole and cut up, no interest at all. Same with frozen bloodworms and carnivore pellets. Heck, I even tried a piece of flounder. He chewed on that then quit. Very frustrating. Hes very active, water numbers all good, just doesn't eat. I'm 30hrs in on a prazi treatment. Sooooo frustrating!

My rays won’t eat shrimp they just chew it and spit it out same with pellets.. but they go crazy on tilapia, night crawlers and left over beef heart from the discus.

He is eating, but still not as much as I would like but I am less stressed now that he is taking food.

He didn't like worms, only really eating Massivore and shrimp.

I found cutting up into fairly small pieces helped

Keep us updated

I'm fairly new in keeping stingrays, but from my experience, everytime I get a new stingray, they may not eat a lot when they settling in, but as long as they're eating I wouldn't worry too much.

Just keep on feeding them what ever they want to eat, and once they are nice and fat, you can start to introduce new diet.

But again, not the most experienced in keeping stingrays, so correct me if I'm wrong :)

Hey,
Don't forget that he acclimatizes to the environment and his other partners. Note that they do not bully him.

Secondly, what did he eat at the store or at the grower he was with? Maybe he needs to get used to the food you give and get to know it.

There is a chance that he refuses to eat because of the stress, as long as he was fine before and the acclimatization was normal there shouldn't be a problem.

*Pay attention to the stool that is brown and not white.
