hey man, heres my little input for your non eating retic here. Try and find some live blood worms like someone already stated, if you cant find those try getting some ghost shrimp, yes a little pricey but it'll save your ray. I bet the store you bought it from just got those shipped in and they weren't eating anything in stores, they just told u a bunch of garbage. If you wanna go one step father to make it eat if it hasn't so already, get another retic of the same size. This creates a competition for food and usually, with my experience at least, gets the picky retics to start eating. and like everyone else is say, lights off and water changes.

it also seems that there is way to much sand in there i cant stress enuff to people because i made that mistake once and lost a huge motoro female that way

when you guys are stating there is too much sand, are you hinting that it'll turn into a 'deep sand bed' of sorts and will cause a detrimental build up of nitrates, ammonia, and negatively affect the water quality, etc?

Other than the above, I don't see how a deeper sand bed will actually hurt a ray physically, as long as it's the right type of sand...

thanks guys for ure comments,i will try the live ghost shrimp or live bloodworm,as for the sand issue,i hear u saying its a bad thing, but can u tell me why plz?thanks

Retic are hard to convert to different foods.

If the retic was eating blood worms, then stick with that in till the retic fattens up and eating normally.

The big word there is IF. IF he saw the ray eat that in the store that's one thing. But he said the shop he got the ray from told him so my guess is that it wasn't eating in the store either. Pure speculation for sure but I don't think anyone would consider changing from frozen bloodworms to live black worms much of a "change". It's nothing like switching a ray from black worms to pellet.

As to the question of the depth of the sand.. Yes, it's possible with that much sand you'll get anaerobic pockets - and quite likely you'll get lots of debris building up in that much sand, the ray simply isn't going to stir up inches of sand.

As I stated above, Retic's are hard to convert to different food. "IF" he LFS said the retic was eating blood worms, then stick with it. Three day's for a retic to settle in is not that long. ;)

And if they said it was eating pizza? You still wouldn't offer it the food it's most likely to eat irrespective of its alleged delight in pepperoni? Point is, LFS just mighta lied.
