You would need to get a pretty big butterfly to make sure your del can't eat it.

a 10” del is not necessarily a big enough fish able to eat a butterfly aro sold at the normal selling size, especially considering how long he has had it. When my bass was 10” sure it could swallow a butterfly aro. It’s head was already 3-4 fingers wide and thick. My 10” retro doesn’t have the same head size as my pbass and I doubt it could swallow a butterfly yet. It’s head is as thick as my thumb and the mouth and throat is smaller. I’m sure over time it’s head will be big enough, probably as thick as two fingers

Bichirs tend to leave other bichirs alone (except endlis they are evil cannibals) but you never know so I would keep them separate if they are small enough to be eaten. I definitely recommend African knife fish and Ctenopomas my knife fish are very personable and are great eaters and the Ctenopoma I owned ate everything and was very cool to keep. Another option is smaller spiny eels

Could I get just a mokele and del? Will sparky eat them if they’re small?

moke are really slow growers and you will be lucky to get 1inch of growth in a year, you won’t find any locally, most likely have to spend ~$140 shipping included from wetspottropicalfish. They have 6” ones. It’s probably half the thickness of your del, I doubt it could eat it. The possible problem you would have is more likely territorial aggression.

you could get a synodontis waterloti from AFD, or if their synodontis nigriventis (upside down swimming syno) are big enough not to be eaten

I believe Caveden Caveden is locating in Singapore. These may not be able to export out of the country
