Hey Egon,
When your pump in your sump tank fails its gonna flood your room right since your drain pipe is drilled half way down the tank? how do you control it?

Good question. When the pump fails, they all do eventually, the water starts to fill the sump. As the water fills the sump the 1" drain line is submerged and starts a full syphon. This full syphon coupled with the extra capacity of the sump keeps water from overflowing. I tested this by powering down the pump and watched. The only problem is after something like a power outage the pump won’t have enough water to get the flow started again. So I had to choose, water on the floor or not being able to auto start the pump. Fortunately here in Phoenix AZ I don’t have very many power outages. Pumps fail more often than losing power. I chose no water on my living room floor. Good questions keep em coming.
I couldn't see the pic with the drain drilled half way down, but it does sound like trouble to me. I know you said you don't get power outages very often, but if one did happen while you were at work or on vacation the results wouldn't be good. I don't know how long the pump would run with not enough water to restart the system or how long the fish would last without filtration, but I know I wouldn't take the gamble (though I am out of town for weekends etc fairly frequently, not sure how often you're away from home). That aside, the tanks look great! I love the backgrounds and if it weren't for the plecs I'd certainly have installed on in my set up. Great idea with the siphon drain too. I've done the very same thing this time round, it's worth it's weight in gold!
Benin, as I said in your other thread; anyone could answer those questions for you, but if you research and learn how to design it yourself you'll be able to customise it to suit your needs exactly. Here are my answers...
