New sw tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i getting live rock this thurs or fri im go for about 30-40lbs, is that enuff?

if not will it be safe to add some more later? my lfs has what they call pre-cured rock, they have two big tanks one with new uncured and another with the cured stuff they had sitting for a few weeks. i thought even if they cure it it still has to cure allover again in my tank.

Mose so called "cured" rock may still have a little die-off. If you add it only 1 rock at a time to your established tank & keep an eye on the parameters, you should be ok.

Stunning tank real nice inverts and fish. Mine was a Fowler because in truth I failed with inverts .

I had green algae skimmer /water change ,etc my mistake was my neighborhood (lived in Long island at the time) had old pipes and the ciyy would pump phosphates into it to "prevent" lead leaching.

I had no idea and never got RO/DI thus just went fowler but the fish lived for yrs

ok sorry its been awhile but here is an updated pic i got just one chunk of rock planning my setup and i added 20lbs of live sand. you can see the filter sock i used to clear up the tank i will remove it and the wet/dry when i get more rocks

tank looks likes it coming along nicely. Get some more rock and you should be in business. i forgot but are you planning on corals with this setup or not?

if you dont want coral, then that light IMO is overkill. A basic t-5 stirp light for about 50 bucks would be all thats really needed. With the light your looking at you could keep softies and low light LPS.

have fun.

luis good luck on your sw tank. it looks like its coming along nicely.
sweetang: i have a sw tank and the water color is a tint of green. water smells fine. but i cant seem to get rid of the green tint. and ive been using algefix is there any advice you can give me?
