New tank 84x36x24 ... Time for a Stand build!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
are there any holes on the side of the overflow ? What's nice about acrylic tanks is you can drill and install the return lines pretty much where ever you want. This is the overflow I hacked out of my tank, there is a hole on each side that were used for the return lines

Sidenote ... you guys think the tank will be okay in the garage for a couple weeks at the longest? It's around 80-100 degrees at any time of the day here ... its supposed to maybe drop to 60 on sunday/monday night with highs in the 80s maybe not ... Wanna make sure it'll be okay.

I have two tanks stored in my garage right now. 120 in there! (I hate phoenix in Aug. Crap it's September and it's still HOT!!!!) Should be fine for a few weeks. Eventually the silicon glue will dry out but that will happen anyway if the tank is left dry for extended periods.

Edit: Oh it's acrylic??? Okay it will be fine. Acrylic is awesome. Your going to love it!

Overflow questions. The bigger holes will be the drain. Just put a bulkhead in those and run the plumbing to your sump. The smaller holes are the returns. Just like B_IN_SD said the smaller holes need bulkheads in the bottom and then they run to the holes drilled into the side of the over flow. Attach Loc-Line to the side of the bulkhead and run some pipe from the smaller bulkheads you put in the bottom of the overflow to the loc-line. THe loc-line is flexible so you can point your return anywhere in the tank you want and it's easily adjustable. I have this set up in my Aba aba tank. I can take some pic's if you want?

Awesome, thought so.... but how do I pipe it from hole to tank :)

Is there a hole on the top of your tank near your overflow box? If so the return pipe can come up through a bulkhead in the little hole of the overflow box, come straight up and out of the overflow box, turn, then enter the tank through the hole in the top of the tank. The return pipe will then, be hidden under your canopy. Sorry I can't post a pic.....I'm out of town without a computer.

Muffy look at the pond pumps at Home Depot called Total Pond. I have two of them. They are cheep, submersible, super quiet, have a one year warranty and semi efficient. I have one thats rated for 3600gph and one for 1200gph and love them.

Sorry guys, since I got my tank so late -_- I haven't been able to have a lot of time to finish the stand and get the other tank moved. I still haven't sold the 125 either, and I need the space, but it's mostly about the time. Ugh, we will be putting it together soon, I promise. Lol.
