Well its decided im putting a piranha in my 90gal either an elongatus or something that resembles a brandtii, which? Bought a powerhead that does 295gph is that too forceful a flow for a 48" tank plus im running a eheim 2217. Good plan or not wouldnt want the flow to break the tank

295gph is ideal for any tank size from anywhere between 60gals and 100gals

You'll be fine mate ;)

ok, the ehiem puts out about 264gph so 520gph for both is that not too much. The turnover is 5.8x/hour. The ehiem will be returning via spray bar. The powerhead is more of a concentrated flow down the middle of the tank im going to try and recreate a river scenario for the elongatus. by the way the tank is 3/8 glass if it makes a difference

make sure you leave a dead spot in your tank...to much current are not good for them. you want a spot for them to rest. Yes current are good, but like i said leave some spot for the piranha to rest.

so if i leave a dead spot behind the wood pile for it rest then it should be ok having that much flow?

just looked on pfury and that said anywhere between 260 and 400 is ok for my tank, id be at 520. That said marine tanks have more flow than im going to. Need a definate answer on whether this is too much flow.

As stated above it will be fine but ideally you'd want 1 or 2 calm spots IMO

don't count your filters flow when determining what powerhead to go with, if you have a 90 gallon tank, a maxi jet 1200 would be perfect

i have the maxi jet 1200, but i will be running it seperate to the filter. though it will be directing the flow/dirt towards the uplift tube of my eheim

Im about to buy the elongatus piranha this guy isnt off live yet but will try as soon as he is mine. He has some mouth damage and small pimples on his flanks not any disease i know but his flanks arent flat is this normal?
