Totally unrelated to this but I got these Koi for my pond today for 5.00!!!!!! They couldn't take care of their pond any more so I got them for 5.00 and they even said they know they are worth a lot but they wanted them to go to a good home! I literally had to get in the pond and catch them though, with a tiny net that was only big enough for the head of the big ones. I didn't get them all and they told me to come back and get the rest...I may this weekend. 2 of them are HUGE!

So, after getting this far in to the build....I sketched this up, this morning and I am now thinking about taking it apart and making this right on the floor...

What do you think? Should I do this build or continue building the tank with the window? I really want a viewing window but this would give me a lot more space for fish. I could do a viewing window on each wall but I don't know if that would be worth it since it would be so low to the ground. I am not sure how many gallons this would be, but I know it's a good amount.

How are you planning on securing the glass to the liner?

Silicone to the liner and wood. I am going to put the liner in, place the glass in and silicon it 3 inches on all sides to the liner/wood. and then silicon the outside after I cut the liner.

Unless, I go with my new design and build the floor tank/pond I won't need a window.

So, this is where I am as of this morning. The header is not screwed in, just sitting in place and the footer will be a solid 4x4 also or two 2x10's, just trying to get an idea of how it will look.

As far as vertical bracing to for the window to seal to in the corners, should I just do 4x4's or should I do 2x4's and put plywood over them?

Awesome build so far.... cant wait to finish reading this

Another off topic post. I got these 4 Iridescent Sharks today. 10.00 for all 4 of them. 3 are about 10 inches and 1 is about 17 inches. The owner said they were are 4 inches when they got them and for some reason the one has outgrown the rest substantially. They were in what looked to be a 55 gallon tank, very cramped. I just put them in here for a few min to get pictures.

Ok, so after doing all this work so far, I am tearing this build down. I decided I am just going to use the entire room. Go big or go home right? I might as well build big once and be done until I build something really massive. So here is the diagram I just did. I will start building this week. I really don't feel like removing every single screw and nail to salvage the wood so I guess I'll pull out my saw and go to town to demo the old one.

Left side will be 9.5' x 5' and the front facing side will be 10.5'x5 and depth will be 30" or 36". I am trying to figure out if I really need to have it 36" high or will any fish I put in there be ok with 30" inches? I am also going to build a water fall coming out of the left wall (cutting hole in the wall before I tile it to run everything so the filter etc will all be in the next room over. I want to put some plants hanging from the ceiling, and around the tank to create an amazon feel in the room. That's it for now.

It sucked cutting this thing up because I wasted so much lumber but it's time to start the new one. It would have taken too long to remove the screws and nails. This thing was freakin heavy even in pieces!
